Canvas Transfers
The
Legacy Edition canvases of
Alan Maley are produced through the transfer of color from lithographs
of fine oil paintings to canvas. This process, (also known as canvas replicas,
canvas transfers, or canvas lithographs) chemically lifts the printed
matter off of a lithograph and hand-transfers the color to artist's canvas.
At the end of the process, the color is on stretched canvas and the paper
is blank.
First, a lithograph is coated with a chemical compound.
After it dries, the lithograph is covered with another chemical solution
that helps lift the paper from the inks, and the inks are lifted by hand.
Once the paper is gone, what is left resembles a thin slice of Jello.
After an adhesive is applied to the canvas, the ink
film is carefully laid out, and pressure is evenly applied, bonding the
image to the canvas. Great care is taken not to trap any air between the
ink film and the canvas.
Real canvas texture, combined
with the true colors of lithographs, skillfully produced, equals the rich
look of an oil painting without the price tag.
Each Legacy Edition Canvas
is individually produced by hand for you and carefully inspected. Professional
artists then apply brushstrokes to recreate the texture of the original
painting. These canvases come stretched, ready for framing. *Please

Prints
Each
Limited Edition Print is printed on 100% rag paper signed
and numbered by Alan Maley.
The
Artist Proof Prints are 10% of the regular edition. Each
has been hand pulled by the artist for the artist's collection.
Size
and Color of Artwork
All dimensions shown throughout the online catalog refer to approximate
image size. The photos in the online catalog represent the original colors
as accurately as modern photography and printing techniques allow. Slight
variations in color can be expected.
